The wines are pure and precise, and less marked by oak than the Verget wines from the Côte d’Or. They are also widely available in the market and frequently offer great value. But Guffens’ roots remain in the Mâconnais, and he offers a mindboggling array of négociant bottlings from the region. The wines are consistently intense, ripe and flavorful, and generally offer considerable early appeal.
